The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Instagram celebrity Ismaila Mustapha popularly known as Mompha.
Mompha was arrested on Tuesday during a joint sting operation with Interpol at the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport in Abuja.
Confirming the arrest on his verified twitter handle, the anti-graft agency said Mompha was arrested for alleged internet fraud and money-laundering.
It said the “actionable cross border intelligence received from collaborative law enforcement agencies about his alleged involvement in the criminal activities further strengthened our suspicion”.
Mompha was said to have volunteered useful information to the operatives and admitted to being reasonably involved in the charges pressed against him.
It was gathered five wristwatches and over N20 million were recovered from him at the point of arrest.
