PolyIbadan Non-Academic Staffs Commences 3-Day Warning Strike Over Non-Implementation of New Minimum Wage

The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has on Monday commence a 3-Day warning strike over the non - implementation  of the new minimum wage by the Oyo state Government.

Naija Metro reporter who monitored the situations at the Polytechnic of Ibadan, reports that the the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, blocked the Central Administrative Building of the institution and prevented the teaching staff from accessing their offices.

The aggrieved Staff Union, who were armed with placards to express their demands, allowed the first semester examinations of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, slated for November 2nd, 2020 to take place.
While speaking with newsmen, the Chairman, Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU of The Polytechnic, Ibadan branch, Comrade Ibrahim Adekunle maintained that the strike is an action to call on the government to implement the minimum wage for the Non - Academic Staff Union (NASU) claiming that failure to pay has led to death of many Staffs.

Comr. Adekunle further mentioned that the institution is struggling of many things adding that the health center of the school has no drug to take care of Staffs and Students.
He also decried the unethical decision of the government by instilling a consultant to the finance and funding of the institution.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Alh. Soladoye Adewole while reacting to the development noted that the management have received the complain of the staff Union and the school governing council have commenced actions towards the case.
Alh. Soladoye who added that 2020 has been a problematic year adding that the government have been an all inclusive government by paying salary promptly even when Staffs are not at work during the COVID-19 period.

Speaking on the Single Treasury Account policy, Soladoye enjoins the Staff Union to exercise patience by consulting the management if there is any angle they are not going well with.
