FG Reviews KWAM 1's Flight Ban After Fuji Icon’s Apology

The Federal Government is reviewing its decision to impose a travel ban on Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate, following his public apology over a heated altercation with airport officials in Abuja.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said on Friday that authorities had noted the singer’s apology statement but stressed that no official decision had been reached.

“We have seen the apology, but this is not a matter we can rush,” Keyamo said. “Relevant agencies will examine it before we take any position.”

AFRIPOST reports that the controversy began after an incident on August 5, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where Ayinde clashed with staff of ValueJet. 

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) later petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police, seeking a probe and possible prosecution.

NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu said the matter remained under review, with the next steps dependent on findings from the investigating authorities.

In his apology issued Friday, Ayinde called the incident “unfortunate” and denied claims that he was carrying alcohol. He said the flask in his possession contained only water due to a medical condition.

“I have a health situation that requires me to stay hydrated at all times,” he explained. “The flask contained water, nothing else.”

The veteran singer also offered apologies to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the NCAA, ValueJet, and Nigerians in general, expressing hope for an amicable resolution.

The case has sparked debate on celebrity conduct, aviation regulations, and the government’s approach to high-profile incidents at Nigerian airports.
