Remains of Military Helicopter Crash Victims Arrive Accra

The Ghana Armed Forces have confirmed the arrival of the remains of eight military personnel who lost their lives in the Z-9 helicopter crash. 

According to the military, the remains were transported from the crash site aboard a Ghana Air Force Casa aircraft and received with full honours at the Air Force Base in Accra on August 6, 2025.

In a statement signed by the Acting Director General, Public Relations of the Ghana Navy, Captain Veronica Arhin, the solemn ceremony was attended by top government officials, military officers and sympathisers. 

The Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Julius Debrah, led the official delegation.

“The Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Brogya Genfi, and the Military High Command extend their deepest condolences to the families in this difficult national tragedy,” the statement added.

The bodies were subsequently deposited at the 37 Military Hospital morgue for preservation with burial arrangements expected to be announced soon.

AFRIPOST reports that the crash, which occurred near Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom area of Ghana’s Ashanti Region, claimed all eight personnel on board. 

The military have confirmed that all the bodies were recovered from the scene.

The Armed Forces also expressed gratitude to residents of Sikaman and members of the security services for their cooperation during the recovery mission.
