Details Emerge As Ex-Rivers Administrator Visits Tinubu, EFCC Chair in Attendance

Former Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), on Wednesday visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The visit came shortly after the expiration of the six-month emergency rule in the state, which ended on September 17.

Ibas, who served as administrator during the emergency period, was accompanied to the Villa by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede.

He was received at the State House around 6 p.m. before being ushered into a meeting with the President by Edun and Olukoyede.

Although details of the discussions were not disclosed, a Presidency source said deliberations were linked to Ibas’ stewardship in the state during the emergency rule.

The meeting came just three days after Ibas dismissed moves by the Rivers State House of Assembly to probe financial decisions taken under his watch.

The Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, had during its first sitting after the return of democracy resolved to scrutinise expenditures, contract awards and withdrawals from the consolidated revenue fund during Ibas’ tenure.
