The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday asked Governor Siminalayi Fubara to forward the list of commissioner-nominees for screening and confirmation without delay.
The directive came as lawmakers resumed plenary in Port Harcourt after six months of inactivity caused by the emergency rule earlier declared in the state.
The sitting, which took place at the Conference Hall of the Legislative Quarters on Aba Road, marked the Assembly’s first session since President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency proclamation on Wednesday.
During proceedings, members commended the President for restoring democratic governance in the state, promising to honour all agreements reached with stakeholders to sustain peace and stability.
Governor Fubara, his deputy and members of the Assembly are expected to fully resume their offices following the presidential directive.
