The holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH has officially been ushered in as the crescent moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia this Tuesday evening.
The Saudi Supreme Court confirmed the sighting, officially declaring Wednesday, February 18, 2026, as the first day of the sacred month of fasting.
Following the confirmation from observatories in Hawtat Sudair and Tumair, millions of Muslims across the Kingdom and the globe will commence the month-long journey of spiritual reflection, prayer, and discipline.
While Saudi Arabia has made its announcement, Nigerian Muslims are awaiting the official word from the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.
Traditionally, the Sultanate Council makes its declaration following verified local sightings or in alignment with global observations.
“May Allāh accept our acts of worship and grant us the ability to utilize the precious moments of this Blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him. Aameen.” — Haramain Statement
