Popular Nigerian TikToker and streamer, Peller is currently under heavy criticism after making controversial remarks about Yoruba people during a recent live session, where he described their style of asking for money as “premium and threatening.”
Peller, who identified himself as Yoruba, during a livestream claimed that people from the ethnic group often make bold financial requests, sometimes demanding large sums without hesitation.
He said, “I’m a Yoruba boy but Yoruba people beg a lot. Their begging is premium and threatening; telling you to give them 1 million naira or above.”
The clip is making the rounds online, with many users accusing him of stereotyping and disrespecting his own ethnic group.
While some supporters argued that the comment was made jokingly and reflected personal experiences, others condemned it as insensitive and divisive.
Peller is currently undergoing a nationwide tour across the 36 states of the country.
