Borno Fallen Soldiers Will Not Die In Vain - Tinubu Assures Family

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged that the deaths of Nigerian military personnel killed in recent counter-insurgency operations in Borno will not be without purpose, as he reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to defeating terrorism and restoring lasting peace across the country.

Tinubu made the assurance while reacting to renewed clashes between troops and insurgents in Borno State, where several soldiers, including Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, were killed during frontline operations.

He praised the armed forces for what he described as sustained and coordinated land and air assaults that have significantly weakened terrorist formations.

According to him, recent counteroffensives have resulted in the neutralisation of several insurgent fighters and commanders, adding that the latest attacks by militants reflected growing desperation from battered groups.

Moreover, the president expressed deep condolences to the families of fallen personnel, describing them as national heroes who paid the ultimate price in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty

He stressed that the government remains fully aware of their sacrifices and will continue to honour their memory.

Tinubu urged the military high command and frontline troops not to be discouraged by losses in the theatre of operations, insisting that morale and resolve must remain strong despite ongoing threats.

He further encouraged officers and soldiers to continue carrying out their duties with courage, discipline, and patriotism.

Furthermore, he assured that the federal government would continue to support the armed forces with improved equipment, logistics, and welfare packages aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness across all conflict zones.

The president also appealed to Nigerians and the media to maintain support for the military while avoiding any actions or narratives that could undermine ongoing operations.

He warned against any form of sympathy for attackers, describing slain personnel as irreplaceable defenders of the nation.

Tinubu extended his condolences to the government and people of Borno State, reaffirming that the federal and state authorities would continue to collaborate closely until terrorism and banditry are fully defeated.
