How Olubadan, Ajimobi Offered Speaker Ogundoyin APC Reps Ticket, Financial Support – Oyo Assembly Chief Whip

The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Gbenga Oyekola, has alleged that the Speaker of the Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, was offered a House of Representatives ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside financial support by the Olubadan of Ibadanland and former First Lady, Florence Ajimobi.
Oyekola made this known in a public statement issued after a meeting of members of the Oyo State House of Assembly held at the Governor’s House.

According to the lawmaker, the meeting revealed the activities of “agents of disunity” allegedly working to create friction between the Assembly and the state government led by Seyi Makinde.

He disclosed that Speaker Ogundoyin informed lawmakers that he had earlier approached the Olubadan to seek support for his governorship ambition, after which he was invited by the monarch.

During the meeting with the traditional ruler, Ogundoyin was reportedly advised against his ambition and was instead offered assistance to secure a House of Representatives ticket under the APC, including funds to prosecute the election. The Speaker, however, said he declined the offer.

Oyekola further stated that Ogundoyin revealed he was later invited by Florence Ajimobi on the same matter, where he was again allegedly offered financial support, which he also rejected.

The Chief Whip distanced himself from any such political moves, stressing that he was neither invited nor consulted in any of the alleged meetings or arrangements.

“I completely disassociate myself from any arrangement or activity that has the potential to disrupt the peace of Oyo State,” Oyekola said, reaffirming his loyalty to Governor Makinde and his administration.

He emphasized his commitment to the unity and stability of the state, adding that he remains dedicated to supporting the current government and ensuring continued progress in Oyo State.

Oyekola concluded with a call for peace, declaring his unwavering stance against any actions capable of causing political tension within the state.
