Celebrity barman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as well known Cubana Chief Priest, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. The South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, who recently purchased the APC nomination forms and declared his intention to contest the 2027 election, failed to secure the party ticket during the primaries held in Imo State.
Reports indicate that Cubana Chief Priest was among several aspirants, including Hon. Chike Okafor and Mirian Onuoha, who did not emerge victorious in their respective contests.
Cubana Chief Priest formally announced his political ambition in late April 2026 after visiting the APC secretariat in Imo State. He expressed interest in representing his constituency, highlighting priorities such as improved security, youth empowerment, talent development, and economic growth for the area.
His bid gained attention due to his high-profile status as a businessman with interests in the hospitality sector, including popular clubs in Owerri, and his recent alignment with APC structures, including a courtesy visit to Seyi Tinubu.
The development has sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens suggesting that popularity and connections at the national level do not always translate to grassroots support in local primaries.
Others view it as a learning curve for the entertainer-turned-politician.
As of now, Cubana Chief Priest has not issued an official statement on the outcome. Further details on the winner of the primary and his next political move are awaited.
This marks another instance of entertainers testing the political waters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
