Oyo Police Arrest Three Suspects, Recover Local Pistol in Intelligence-Led Stop-and-Search Operation

The Oyo State Police Command has recorded another operational breakthrough following the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol during an intelligence-led stop-and-search operation conducted across the State.

‎This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
‎The operation, according to the PRO, was carried out by operatives of the Restore Peace Unit along Old Oyo Road, near American International School, Bethel, Fiditi.
‎During the exercise, three Suspects reportedly exhibited suspicious behaviour and attempted to flee when attention was drawn to them.
‎Their action prompted a swift pursuit by the operatives, resulting in their arrest after a brief chase.
‎A subsequent search of the luggage allegedly linked to the suspects led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms concealed in a nylon bag.
‎The Command stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the weapon and its intended use, while reaffirming its commitment to intelligence-led policing and urging residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies in the collective fight against crime.
