The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State is currently leading a team to Ahoro-Esinele following the abduction of a secondary school principal and several students during a gunmen attack on Community High School.The development was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, who said the Commissioner is personally leading the response operation team to the affected community to assess the situation and coordinate rescue efforts.
The attack occurred on Friday morning between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. when armed men stormed the school premises, causing panic among students and staff.
During the invasion, the gunmen abducted the school principal, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, alongside an unspecified number of students, which authorities are still working to confirm.
A teacher was also reportedly killed during the attack.
According to the police spokesperson, the attackers escaped with the principal in her vehicle and fled into a nearby forest reserve surrounding the community.
The Oyo State Police Command said tactical units have been deployed to the area, while efforts are ongoing to verify the number of victims and track the suspects involved in the attack.
