Unknown gunmen have invaded the Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting the principal of a secondary school and an unspecified number of students.It was gathered that the attack occurred between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Friday at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele.
A community source told newsmen that the attackers stormed the school, abducted students whose number is yet to be confirmed, and also kidnapped the school principal, identified as Mrs. Rachael Alamu.
The source further disclosed that a teacher was shot during the incident, although details about the victim’s condition were not immediately clear.
According to reports, the gunmen escaped with the school principal in her vehicle and fled into a nearby forest reserve bordering the community.
The source added that the security response was delayed due to the distance of the nearest police station from the area, believed to be the Ikoyi Division.
The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the attack but did not confirm the number of persons kidnapped.
He said the Commissioner of Police and a team of officers were already heading to the scene to assess the situation and begin investigations.
