The title was conferred on Wednesday when VDM paid a courtesy visit to the royal palace in Iwo, Osun State.
During the ceremony, the monarch also presented the activist with traditional Yoruba regalia.
Addressing his guest, the Oluwo described Iwo as a peaceful and accommodating town where people from different backgrounds are welcomed without discrimination. He assured VDM that anyone who chooses to live in the community would receive the same love and protection accorded to the monarch’s own children.
The traditional ruler also maintained that Iwo remains one of the few communities where the monarchy enjoys overwhelming support from the people.
The recognition comes several months after VeryDarkMan announced a temporary withdrawal from social media.
In a video released on his Instagram page, the activist explained that he decided to step aside after facing criticism that his online activities were diverting public attention from efforts to hold the government accountable.
He said his absence was intended to create room for other influencers, celebrities and civil society advocates to champion campaigns for good governance and accountability.
VeryDarkMan stated that he would suspend activities across all his social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, while encouraging Nigerians to remain focused on demanding responsible leadership.
He added that he was intentionally taking a back seat to allow others to sustain conversations and actions aimed at promoting accountability in government.
