No fewer than 176 residents abducted during a deadly attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have regained their freedom, the state government has announced.

The government disclosed the development in a statement shared on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, expressing appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, security agencies and all those involved in securing the victims' release.
"We are grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the security forces and everyone who contributed to this remarkable achievement," the statement read.
The victims were kidnapped on February 3, 2026, when suspected Boko Haram-linked insurgents stormed the two rural communities on motorcycles and carried out a coordinated assault that lasted for several hours.
The attack, described as one of the worst security incidents in Kwara State in recent years, reportedly claimed more than 200 lives, left many others injured and destroyed homes and businesses.
The invasion also displaced several residents, forcing many families to flee the affected communities in search of safety.
The government did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the victims' release or whether any conditions were met before they regained their freedom.
