A 19-year-old newlywed, Aisha Musa, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly attempting to poison her husband barely 40 days after their marriage.

The incident reportedly occurred on August 12, 2026, at Gwamma Village in the Bauchi Local Government Area of the state, where the suspect allegedly laced her husband’s meal with a poisonous substance.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the police were alerted around 7:40pm following a distress call from an anonymous woman in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi.
According to Habib, operatives from the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, responded to the report and took the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, for treatment.
The victim was said to be in stable condition as of the time of filing the report.
The police spokesman added that Musa was arrested shortly after the alleged incident and reportedly confessed during interrogation.
He said detectives recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poisonous substance, alongside portions of the suspected poisoned meal, which were taken into custody as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Habib said the suspect would be prosecuted after the completion of the investigation.
The command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
