The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) announced the results on Monday night after the completion of the electoral process across the state.
The outcome leaves only four councillorship seats outside APM’s control, with four opposition parties taking one ward each.

BASIEC Chairman, Hajiya Jummai Abubakar, said the results followed the completion of voting, vote counting, collation and verification.

She explained that the candidates declared winners had met the required legal conditions and obtained the highest number of valid votes in their respective constituencies.

“Following the conclusion of the electoral process, the successful candidates have been duly returned as elected,” Abubakar said.

Among the 20 APM chairmanship candidates, Umar Mohammed Aliyu recorded the highest individual vote tally.

Aliyu polled 125,170 votes to win Bauchi Local Government Area.

Abubakar Ibrahim Dembo followed with 109,999 votes in Toro, while Bappah Aliyu Mohammed secured 107,482 votes to emerge victorious in Alkaleri.

Ya’u Samaila Sade won Darazo with 67,276 votes, while Yusuf Babayo Zaki secured Katagum after receiving 65,626 votes.

In other results, Ali Babayo won Gamawa with 54,423 votes. Sama’ila Wakili Lere secured Tafawa Balewa with 46,625 votes, while Habibu Idris Usman won Warji with 43,066 votes.

Former Bauchi State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Saleh Hodi Jibir, also emerged as chairman-elect for Shira after polling 37,135 votes.

Other APM candidates declared winners included Zakka Luka Magaji in Bogoro, Iliya Isah in Dambam and Mohammed Abubakar Jibo in Dass.

Magaji polled 25,282 votes in Bogoro, while Isah secured 19,730 votes in Dambam. Jibo won Dass with 35,264 votes.

Mohammed Idris M. won Ganjuwa with 24,150 votes, while Mustapha Alhaji Musa secured Giade with 33,864 votes.

Garba Musa secured Kirfi with 24,787 votes, while Salisu Hussaini won Misau after recording 34,378 votes.

Yahuza Adamu Haruna polled 29,387 votes to win Ningi, while Mas’ud Aliyu emerged chairman-elect in Zaki with 19,984 votes.

Despite APM’s dominance, four other political parties managed to win one councillorship position each.

The Social Democratic Party won Dandango Ward in Bauchi Local Government Area.

The National Rescue Movement secured Darazo South Ward, while the Zenith Labour Party won Wandi Ward in Dass Local Government Area.

The Young Progressive Party took Zirami Ward in Giade Local Government Area.

Abubakar said BASIEC conducted the election independently and within the provisions of the law.

She also praised Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for supporting the commission during the electoral process.

The commission chairman congratulated the people of Bauchi State and the newly elected local government officials following the conclusion of the polls.

The result represents a near-total victory for APM at the local government level, with the party controlling every chairmanship position and almost all councillorship seats in the state.
