Tonto announced the movement on Sunday, in a post on her Instagram page.
She described NWPT as an interdenominational altar and “global movement of consecrated believers called to experience the raw power, purity, and presence of God.”
The movement is anchored on Mark 2:22, which reads, “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins.”
The statement announcing NWPT said, “NWPT exists as a dwelling place of His presence for those who refuse to settle for lukewarm Christianity and are hungry for genuine revival, fire, and transformation.”
Outlining its vision, the statement said the movement aims “to see a global awakening of consecrated believers operating in the raw power, purity, and presence of God transforming nations and establishing the Kingdom of Christ on Earth.”
On its mission, it stated that NWPT exists “to build an interdenominational altar of prayer, revival, and apostolic training that equips watchmen, activates spiritual gifts, drives relentless soul winning, and delivers total freedom to the captive through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
The statement also distinguished the gathering from a conventional church.
She said, “This is not a church; it is an intense gathering of those consecrated and equipped for the purposes of God. A people set apart, refined by His presence, and commissioned to advance His Kingdom.”
According to the announcement, NWPT will hold weekly fellowship every Friday at 6:00pm.
The launch comes amid Tonto’s increased involvement in Christian activities in recent months. She has also signed some of her social media posts as “Ada El Roi” and participated in Pastor Jerry Eze’s New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations, NSPPD, community.
In December 2025, she shared a public testimony during a service at Streams of Joy International Church, where she spoke about her deliverance from smoking, alcohol addiction, masturbation and prolonged anger.
The actress said she started smoking at the age of 13 and had smoked for 27 years before what she described as her deliverance.
Tonto has also spoken publicly about changes in her personal life and faith.
In January 2026, she announced her reconciliation with her former husband, Olakunle Churchill, about 10 years after their public separation. The pair, who married in 2015, had been involved in a long running public feud before announcing that they had resolved their differences.
Tonto ventured into politics in 2022 when she became the running mate to Tonte Ibraye, the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Rivers State, for the 2023 election.
The launch of NWPT marks a new development in the actress’s public Christian journey.
