I Have Evidence Tinubu is 90 Years Old – Atiku

Former Vice President and 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old.

Atiku made the allegation during an interview with the BBC published on Friday, August 28, 2026.

He also said he was prepared to produce what he described as evidence of Tinubu’s age before a court if the issue becomes the subject of legal proceedings.

According to Atiku, questions surrounding the President’s age should not prevent him from seeking the presidency in 2027.

He argued that his decision to contest again was driven by his desire to serve Nigeria and his belief that his experience remains relevant to the country’s leadership needs.

Atiku also defended his long history of presidential contests, saying his political journey had been shaped partly by his opposition to military rule and previous circumstances that prevented him from becoming president.

He maintained that the Nigerian Constitution gives him the right to seek elective office as long as he meets the required conditions.

The ADC candidate further presented his experience, capacity and commitment to Nigeria as reasons he believes he should be considered for the presidency.

Turning to the country’s security crisis, Atiku blamed persistent insecurity on what he described as failures in the management of Nigeria’s defence and policing systems.

He promised that his administration would make security a priority and work to significantly improve the situation within its first year in office if elected.

Atiku said his age and physical condition also influenced his decision to remain in the presidential race.

“You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick and I am healthy and strong,” he said.

The former vice president added that he believed Nigerians deserved the opportunity to choose between candidates based on their capacity to serve.

“So why won’t I make myself available to serve my country?” Atiku asked.

He further insisted that he possessed material which, in his view, could support his claim about Tinubu’s age.

“I have evidence that President Tinubu is 90 years old and I will present it in court,” he said.
