Poly Ibadan Directors Laud Rector Lasisi for Staff Welfare, Improved Electricity, Leadership

The Committee of Directors of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has commended the institution’s Rector, Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, for his commitment to staff welfare and harmonious industrial relations.

The directors gave the commendation when they visited Lasisi to congratulate him on his substantive appointment as Rector by the Oyo State Government.

They said Lasisi had demonstrated strong leadership, competence and dedication to the development of the institution during his tenure as Acting Rector, adding that his appointment reflected the confidence reposed in his ability to lead the institution.

The spokesman for the directors and Director of the Career Development Centre, Dr Olumuyiwa Ojo, said the Rector’s elevation was a recognition of the progress recorded under his stewardship.

According to him, “This well-deserved elevation is a clear demonstration of the confidence reposed in your leadership capacity, commitment, competence and dedication to the growth and development of our great institution. It is also in recognition of the remarkable progress recorded during your stewardship.”

Ojo also commended the administration for maintaining what he described as a firm but constructive approach to student discipline, particularly its stance against student riots and other activities capable of disrupting peace, security and academic activities on the campus.

The directors further praised the administration’s efforts in restoring and improving electricity supply across the institution.

They noted that the intervention had positively affected teaching, learning, research, administration and the general working environment within the polytechnic.

“Your achievements in the area of restoration and improvement of electricity supply across the institution deserve special commendation. The positive impact of this intervention on teaching, learning, research, administration and the general working environment cannot be overemphasised,” the directors said.

They expressed optimism that Lasisi’s substantive appointment would enable him to consolidate the achievements recorded so far and pursue further initiatives aimed at strengthening the academic, infrastructural, administrative and socio-economic development of the institution.

The directors also pledged their support and cooperation to the administration, saying they were committed to providing the professional guidance required to move the institution forward.

“As you assume this important responsibility on a substantive basis, we pray that Almighty God will grant you wisdom, sound health, strength, courage and the necessary resources to successfully steer the affairs of the institution,” they said.

Responding, Lasisi expressed appreciation to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for the opportunity to serve as Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

The Rector assured the governor, the state government, the Governing Council, management, staff and students of the institution of his commitment to taking the polytechnic to greater heights.

He pledged to do everything within his capacity to advance teaching, learning, innovation, quality control and moral development at the institution.

Lasisi also expressed his readiness to work with relevant stakeholders to consolidate existing achievements and ensure sustainable development of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
