The launch took place yesterday as the group began expanding its presence across the South-West.

Igboho said members of the Ogun chapter would undergo training approved by the Federal Government.

According to him, the state government would also determine where trained personnel would be deployed.

He explained that members would receive official identification cards after completing their training. The cards would be issued at the local government level.

Igboho also disclosed that the Ogun State Government had pledged its support for the initiative.

He said authorities would determine a monthly allowance for members, noting that many of them have families to support.

However, Igboho urged the recruits to exercise discipline and avoid abusing the authority that comes with their identification and training.

He warned that members must not engage in reckless conduct or use the security outfit as a platform to cause disorder.

Igboho said his long-term ambition was to establish a properly recognised security structure across the South-West.

He compared the proposed model to the Civil Defence system, arguing that community-based security initiatives could eventually develop into a formal structure with wider government recognition.

The Ogun launch follows the unveiling of the Iru Ekun Security Network in Ilorin, Kwara State, about a month ago.

During the Kwara launch, Igboho said the group would focus on securing forests and preventing bandits and other criminal groups from using them as hideouts.

The expansion into Ogun signals a broader push by Igboho to establish the security network in more parts of the South-West.

For the initiative to operate effectively, however, its activities will depend heavily on coordination with government authorities, particularly regarding training, deployment and official identification of its members.
