X, aka Twitter, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, has announced plan to shut down its creator revenue share programme, with final payments going out to all eligible users on September 7.
X announced the shutdown with an article on the platform. New signups for the programme were also closed starting August 7.

The revenue sharing programme allowed users on X to earn money for posting on the platform based on engagement. Though only users who paid for premium X accounts were eligible.

This move comes just days after X’s product head Nikita Bier announced that he was stepping down. Though he remains an advisor to the platform.

“Today, we’re introducing the Original Content Rewards Program, a new way to reward creators who bring original ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity, and commentary to X,” the company said.

X said it would stop accepting new enrolments into the Revenue Sharing programme from Friday, while existing participants would continue earning until September 7, 2026.

“Starting today, we’re no longer accepting new enrollments into Revenue Sharing,” it said.
