Obi made the declaration on Thursday at a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he urged Nigerians to reject fear and intimidation at polling stations.
According to the former Anambra State governor, voters must stand firm and ensure that their choices are protected throughout the electoral process.
He argued that election officials should not be allowed to overpower or intimidate voters, pointing out that the number of voters at polling units would often be higher than the officials assigned to them.
Obi said Nigerians could collectively prevent attempts to manipulate the electoral process if they remained vigilant at polling centres.
“I am ready to die too,” Obi told supporters while responding to calls for Nigerians to be prepared to defend their votes.
He also warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against any attempt to manipulate results after voters have cast their ballots.
The NDC candidate expressed particular concern about the electronic transmission of results through the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.
Obi alleged that attempts could be made to interfere with the system during the 2027 election, but insisted that such efforts would face stronger resistance.
He said better communication systems and reliable network infrastructure would be necessary to prevent technical problems from undermining the credibility of the election.
“If there is a network problem, we will ensure there is another option to keep the process working,” Obi said, stressing that technical failures should not become an avenue for compromising election results.
The former Anambra governor further urged Nigerians to take greater responsibility for protecting the electoral process rather than leaving the task entirely to institutions.
His comments come as political parties and their candidates begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Obi’s declaration is expected to reinforce his campaign message of voter participation, electoral transparency and resistance to intimidation.
He maintained that Nigerians must work together to ensure that votes cast at polling units are accurately recorded and reflected in the final results.
For Obi, the 2027 election should not be determined by fear, technical failures or alleged manipulation. He called on voters to remain alert and defend the integrity of their ballots.
