Biggie announced the change during the nomination diary room session on Monday, telling the pair that they would henceforth be treated like every other housemate in the competition.

The development also means Aikou and Flora are now eligible to compete for the N160 million grand prize.

As Gambits, the pair had been protected from nominations and eviction and were guaranteed places in the house until the finale. Their special status also initially made them ineligible for the season’s grand prize.

Flora and Aikou became the first Gambits of Season 11 after viewers voted for them during the first week of the show. Flora emerged as the female Gambit with 29.38 per cent of the votes, while Aikou secured the male position with 9.10 per cent.

The arrangement changed during Sunday’s live eviction show when host Ebuka Obi Uchendu introduced “Operation Release the Gambit”.

Viewers were given the option to release Aikou, release Flora or release both housemates, giving them the opportunity to compete for the prize.

Following the vote, both housemates were released from their Gambit status and became full contestants in the competition.

The change came after Sultex and Goddessa were evicted from the show during Sunday’s live show. Sultex received 4.77 per cent of the votes, while Goddessa polled 5.02 per cent. Bells, who was also up for eviction, survived with 5.22 per cent.

Season 11, tagged “Show Ya Sef”, premiered on July 26, with 24 housemates competing for a N160 million prize package. The eventual winner is set to receive N100 million in cash, an SUV and other rewards.

With their Gambit protection removed, Aikou and Flora will now have to secure enough nominations and public support to remain in the house as the competition moves into its sixth week.
