The Polytechnic, Ibadan Alumni Association has congratulated Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi on his appointment as the substantive Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

The association described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Lasisi’s administrative capacity, intellectual depth and commitment to the development of the institution.
The congratulatory message, signed by the National Secretary of the association, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole, was issued on behalf of the Acting National President, Professor Akinloye Lawal, the National Executive Council, all chapters and the entire alumni community at home and in the diaspora.
The association said the news of Lasisi’s appointment was received with “great joy, excitement and a deep sense of fulfilment”, describing it as a significant milestone in the history of the institution.
According to the alumni body, Lasisi’s tenure as Acting Rector provided the Polytechnic community with an opportunity to witness his leadership ingenuity, courage, resourcefulness and dedication to duty.
It commended the new Rector for what it described as remarkable improvements in the academic and administrative operations of the institution during his period as Acting Rector.
The association particularly praised his efforts to strengthen institutional processes, improve service delivery, promote accountability and block identified leakages, saying the measures demonstrated his determination to protect the resources, integrity and reputation of the institution.
It also singled out Lasisi’s initiative of ensuring that certificates of graduating students were prepared and made available for collection at graduation.
The alumni association said the initiative had brought relief and satisfaction to graduating students and their families, while also projecting The Polytechnic, Ibadan as an institution committed to efficiency, excellence and students’ welfare.
It stated, “Your appointment is a fitting recognition of your sterling qualities, exceptional administrative capacity, intellectual depth, and demonstrable commitment to the advancement of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.”
The association expressed confidence that Lasisi’s emergence as substantive Rector would provide an opportunity to consolidate the gains recorded during his acting tenure and pursue sustainable development, academic excellence, institutional transformation and global competitiveness.
While acknowledging the challenges and responsibilities associated with the office, the alumni body said it was confident that Lasisi would deploy his experience, courage and leadership qualities to make a lasting impact on the institution.
The association assured the Rector of its goodwill, prayers, encouragement and continued support as he assumes full responsibility for leading the institution.
It further prayed for wisdom, sound health, strength, courage and discernment for Lasisi, expressing hope that his tenure would be characterised by peace, institutional stability, academic excellence and enduring achievements.
The Polytechnic, Ibadan Alumni Association described itself as proud of the institution and pledged to support developments capable of enhancing its reputation and standing among leading institutions of higher learning.
The association, in its message, urged the Rector to see his appointment as a new chapter of purposeful service and transformational leadership.
Lasisi was appointed the substantive Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan following his period as Acting Rector of the institution.
