Your Narrative About Makinde Paralyzing LGs Wrong, Defective — Oyo Govt to Alli Campaign

The Oyo State Government has dismissed the claim by the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) that Governor Seyi Makinde has “paralysed” local governments in the state, describing the narrative as wrong, misleading and defective.

The government, in a statement, said SSACO appeared more interested in constructing a political narrative than establishing the facts, urging the campaign organisation to examine the projects being executed across the 33 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas before making sweeping allegations.

It said documented project records show that local governments have undertaken and completed projects covering roads, bridges, culverts, drainage, markets, electricity, water supply, schools, public buildings, security infrastructure and other community facilities.

Among the projects listed by the government are the 14.1km Eruwa-Lanlate-Maya Road in Ibarapa East; 15.75km Igbole Express Road to the Ibarapa Central boundary; 10km Omi-Adio Junction-Ido Junction Road in Ido; approximately 6km Akobo Ojurin-Olorunda Abaa Road in Lagelu; 6.45km Olodo Garage-Kasumu/Ajia Junction Road in Egbeda; and 3.5km Olorunsogo Express/Ariyo-Amuloko Road in Ona-Ara.

Others include the 6km Idiko-Ile-Ayegun Road in Iwajowa, 3.1km Olive Estate Internal Roads in Ibadan North, 2.65km Abayomi Olagoke Akano-Raji Rasaki Road in Ibadan North East, 2.5km Alakia-Isebo/Iyana Church Road in Egbeda, and 1.8km Dandaru-Agbadagbudu Road in Ibadan North.

The government also cited the Omi-Tuntun Ultra-Modern Market in Ido, Kajola Ultra-Modern Market in Ogbomoso South, reconstruction of Akesan Market in Oyo East, Iseyin/LAUTECH campus roads and related infrastructure, 33KV electricity and transformer projects in Iseyin and Itesiwaju, as well as solar public lighting projects and various schools, drainage structures, culverts and public buildings across the state.

It added that projects completed in 2026 include the Ikolaba/Omowale Kuye Estate Road, Bodija Main Market Road, Ikolaba Main Road Network and Oba Adeyemi-Mobolaje Road, among others.

“These are not the activities of ‘paralysed’ local governments. They are tangible projects with identifiable locations and beneficiaries,” the government said.

It challenged SSACO to identify the local government areas it considered paralysed, the specific functions that had allegedly ceased, projects abandoned as a result of the claimed paralysis and the evidence supporting its allegation.

The government said criticism of the administration was legitimate but should be based on facts, adding that generalised political statements could not substitute for evidence.

It noted that the projects listed span both urban and rural communities across Ibadan, Ibarapa, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Iseyin, Saki, Ido, Egbeda, Lagelu, Ona-Ara, Atisbo, Iwajowa and other parts of the state.

The government stressed that it was not claiming every problem in the 33 local governments had been solved, but maintained that describing the councils as “paralysed” was inconsistent with the documented projects being executed and completed across the state.

It therefore urged SSACO to identify specific shortcomings and provide evidence for any allegation of failure, saying political disagreement with Makinde or his policies should not lead to the disregard of verifiable facts.

The government said the roads, bridges, markets, drainage facilities, electricity projects, public buildings and other infrastructure across communities provide evidence of ongoing local government development.

“Your facts are wrong. Your narrative is defective. The record of local government development across Oyo State speaks for itself,” the government said.
