Alli Campaign Accuses Adekanmbi’s Supporters Of Vandalising APC Billboards In Ibadan

The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) has accused supporters of Bimbo Adekanmbi, governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State, of vandalising billboards belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate and his running mate in Ibadan.

The organisation alleged that billboards of Alli and his running mate, Hon. Soji Adedeji, were vandalised in several locations, including Mokola, Sango, Monatan-Olodo Road, Odo-Ona and the Toll Gate-Iwo Road section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

In a statement on Tuesday, SSACO’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, said the alleged vandalism followed an attack on Alli’s wife and two other APC candidates in Ibadan last week.

The organisation described the development as unacceptable and called on Adekanmbi and Governor Seyi Makinde to caution their supporters against acts capable of escalating political tension in the state.

“This sad development, once again, confirms the fear within the circle of Governor Seyi Makinde and his stooge, Adekanmbi, of the impending loss they’ll face in the forthcoming election,” the statement alleged.

SSACO said there was no justification for attacking candidates or destroying campaign materials, insisting that all political parties and their candidates must be allowed to exercise their democratic rights.

It warned supporters of the APM against what it described as a reprehensible act and urged them to refrain from actions capable of threatening the peace in Oyo State.

The organisation also called on the Commissioner of Police and heads of other security agencies to investigate the alleged vandalism, identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.

The statement further linked the latest allegations to what it described as an earlier warning about the APM’s activities, urging security agencies to act swiftly to prevent a recurrence.

SSACO, however, appealed to APC members and supporters to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, urging them to resist any provocation.

It added that Alli’s proposed governance blueprint, known as Oyo AHEAD, would focus on restoring the state’s fortunes and accelerating development if he is elected governor in 2027.
