Makinde made this known during an ongoing media chat on Fresh FM, where he disclosed that his administration was developing a roadmap for the continued development of projects beyond 2027.

He said the government was identifying projects and assessing the challenges that could affect their completion, with a view to ensuring continuity beyond his administration.

Makinde also expressed confidence that a stable economic environment would make it easier to complete projects such as Agbowo Shopping Complex, saying he hoped to achieve this when he became president.

In another part of the interview, the governor said he had started his own company at the age of 29 and had been paying salaries since then, stressing that he understood how to manage resources.

He recalled that he had invested money in education early in his career and owned a three-bedroom apartment he bought for ₦2 million while contesting for the Senate.

Makinde also said he had spent more money on his unsuccessful 2015 governorship campaign than he spent in 2019, when he eventually won the election.

On political appointments, the governor disclosed that he had recommended Bimbo Adekanmbi for a ministerial position, but President Bola Tinubu chose Adebayo Adelabu instead.

He praised Adekanmbi’s professional background, saying he had also assigned him to help address the funding challenge surrounding the planned upgrade of Ibadan Airport, which he said was approved without a financial contribution from the Federal Government.

Makinde further claimed that his administration had employed more than 21,000 teachers in Oyo State in seven years, with almost all the appointments made without godfatherism.

He also criticised the Federal Government, describing it as an administration of deceit, while declaring that he was prepared to make sacrifices for Nigeria’s development.
