The federal government have voted the total of Seven Billion, Five hundred and Six Million Naira to the cause of containing and preventing Corona Virus In Nigeria.
On the 21st of February, The Punch Newspaper published a news with the headline
"FG releases N386m for coronavirus prevention"
Where it was reported that The Federal Government has released N386million to two health agencies to strengthen Coronavirus (COVID19) preparedness in Nigeria.
It was further explained that Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Mr Abdulaziz Mashi Abdulaziz, disclosed this while giving an updates on the preparedness for Coronavirus and Lassa Fever in the country, in Abuja.
Abdullaziz noted that the fund was released in two batches.
“While the first batch of N71 million was released at the end of January to facilitate activities of the Port Health Services department of the ministry, the second was released after the Minister of Health".
On the 6th of March, The Cable News published and article with the Headline
"FG releases fresh N620m for fight against coronavirus"
In this report it was revealed that the federal government has released N620 million, as the second tranche of funds, provided to address coronavirus.
On the 26th of March, Naija Metro published that the Federal Government Releases Another N6.5Billion To Curb Spread Of Corona Virus In Nigeria making it a total of 7,506,000,000billion.
Recall that Nigeria recorded its first case on February 24, an index case of an Italian who came into the country for business.
Note that the first 386million naira released was released before Corona Virus came into the country at all.
