Loyola Old Boys Association Elects New Excos, Promise Qualitative Infrastructural Upgrade In Alma Mata

The Loyola College Old Boys Association (LOCOBA) has pledged its support and readiness to improve educational standards and qualitative infrastructural upgrade in their Alma Mata. 

LOCOBA, An alumni body of old students of Loyola College, Ibadan founded in 1954 made this vow on Saturday during their quarterly meeting and official handover to new executives which take place at the School premises and Pentorise Guest House respectively.

The newly elected National President, Prof. Olufemi Ogunbiyi while speaking to newsmen during the investiture pledged his support in improving educational standards, and infrastructural development in the school. 

Prof. Ogunbiyi further revealed the readiness of the alumni association to assist indigent students of the institution adding that the newly appointed commitee will work with the database of past and present students so as familiarize and get them engaged in the alumni vision. 

He further maintained that the alumni association of any school is very pivotal to fostering a strengthened relation between the old boys and the school management. He then appealed to the state government to provide adequate subvention for easy running of the institution. 

Speaking to Newsmen, The Newly appointed National Secretary, Mr. Adetolu Adetoye described Alumni association as a key Stakeholder in increasing the educational standard in any institution.

He maintained that the newly assumed executives of Loyola College Old Boys School will indulge in alot of projects which includes retraining of teaching personnel, infrastructural upgrade and welfare of the alumni members.

The Senior School Principal of Loyola College, Mr. Akin Akinade in his welcome address appreciate the tremendous support and electrifying passion of the Old Boys Association towards the betterment of the School.

Akinade added that since he has been posted to the school, the performance of the school has been in the upward swing. He also noted that the school is going through a lot of challenges in order to bring about a better educational standards. 

" We've recorded immense improvements in our standards since I came here, Students who are in the low sides are now performing better in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, CRS and other subjects. 

" We have set a new target to track Student's performance, we noticed that one of our major problems is that majority of our students are indigents, who have no motivation or role model and we hope in improving these" Mr. Akinade claimed. 

The School Principal in charge of the JSS school, Mrs. Fatimah Okunola in her address noted that the JSS3 Block is in a dilapidated condition. She called on the alumni association to help in renovation of the JSS3 block and the JSS1 block building. 

Listening her achievements, Mrs. Fatimah added that she has been able to renovate 2 toilet blocks in the JSS section. She added that they need home economics equipments, Chairs and Lockers and the rehabilitation of the school perimeter fencing so as to curtail students from absconding the school premises during school hours.

Present at the investiture are other members of the alumni association.
