Being With Him for 11 Years, He took me to Dubai, America - Aláàfin's Trumpeter (Kàkàkí) Mourns

The Trumpet Blower, Oníkàkàkí ọba has claimed that the demise of the late Aláàfin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III is a shock to him.

The trumpeter while speaking with our Editor, Kehinde Ayanboade immediately after the funeral prayer maintained that blowing of trumpet for Oyo monarchs is the traditional responsibility of his family of which his father was once a trumpeter.

" My father was once his trumpeter, they were three of them then, and like the king, they've gone too. 

We were all under aláàfin and he's been there for us. He has always cater for our need, and I have been with him for 11 years."

Onikakaki added that being the first class monarch's official trumpeter has given him the opportunity to visit travel outside the country. 

"Baba due to his love for kàkàkí had taken me to Dubai, America, Maiduguri and almost all Northern state, I had the opportunity to travel on air. 

" Baba doesn't segregate, he took us all as his child, he gave us money, lands, built houses for us, sponsored us for Islamic pilgrim (Mecca). He said.

It could be recalled that the new of  Aláàfin Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III demise was announced in the early hours of Saturday, 23rd of April, 2022. 

Traditional and Islamic rites have been observed and the Chief Imam of Oyo Land, Imam Masud Ajokidero had led Muslim Faithfuls in a funeral prayer (janazah) held at the palace.
