Abdullahi Attahiru Emerges JCI Nigeria 2023 National President

Junior Chamber International, Nigeria has elected Abdullahi Bala Attahiru as its National President for 2023. 

Attahiru was elected at the 50th National Convention of the organisation that was recently held in Ibadan with other members who were elected to serve as Executive Vice Presidents and National Vice Presidents in the various regions of the organisation.

"JCI is a global leadership organisation that develop leaders for the changing world and prides its mission in providing development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change."

In his presidential acceptance speech, Attahiru considered his election as a call to duty, that which he is prepared for.

“I firmly believe that my over ten years of sojourn as a member serving in various leadership positions gave me ample opportunity to appraise and fully understand the dynamics and workings of the system of this great organization”, he said. 

He pointed out that his 2023 team will work with the SEnD framework to drive strategic skill development, awakening members’ consciousness towards selfless service and seeing responsibilities as opportunities while leveraging on the  ‘YOUtility Concept’.

Attahiru also mentioned that the organisation will leverage her senior members in the organisations in an all-round value exchange program, and also provide structure that will support a vibrant organisation through mentorship.

He said that the next year’s focus is based on the desire to create a continuous structure that empower members through a clear-cut framework, leverage on People, Processes and Technology where the Local Organizations can effectively and efficiently run.

“Over the years, the organisation has produced inspiring experiences and has developed members that have significantly contributed to its brand. Through the organisation, people have secured employment, sealed massive business deals, and even made a life-changing network through the platform it has provided”

“We need to look into the fundamentals of our organisation and develop a strategy that considers our peculiarity and propels us to a state where our leaders and ourselves have envisioned us to be; he said.

Attairu joined the organisation in 2010 as a collegiate member at University of Ilorin, and has moved to the different cadre of the organisations where he has held different leadership positions which include General Legal Counsel, JCI ASO in 2015; elected as the President of the same Local Organisation in 2019.

He was elected as National Vice President of the organsiation in 2021; Executive Vice President in 2021 and appointed as 2022 General Legal Counsel of the organisation.
