The residents lamented that the Government has neglected the wellbeing of the people who resides in the 80-flat government owned estate.
The LSDPC Estate, comprised of 80 Flats is a government-owned property designed to house both staff and purchasers of units offered by the Lagos State Development & Property Corporation (LSDPC).
One of the residents who speak exclusively with our correspondent pleading anonymity stressed that the estate located at Ogba part of Lagos has been abandoned to infrastructural decay for over 20 years.
“Despite LSDPC’s mandate to facilitate home ownership and foster suitable living environments in Lagos State, it is ironic that the Agency cannot uphold its responsibility towards employees and other third parties that have invested in the 80-flat Estate at Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos.
“With an infrastructure in a state of disarray, the Estate stands as a testament to years of abandonment and decay for over 20 years.
“Our Estate is in a poor state, as it is characterised by collapsed/overflowing septic tanks, dilapidated building structures, disjointed prepaid meters, exposed wirings, structural problems with exposed building pillars, and more. Cracks between building pillars and the main structure raise serious concerns about the structural integrity of the Estate.
We are exposed to a myriad of health and safety hazards daily, and the vulnerable health of children is compromised by the unsanitary conditions they are forced to endure.
"Additionally, the internal road network within the Estate is in a deplorable condition, further exacerbating the hardships faced by inhabitants. The prolonged neglect of the Estate has resulted in a severe decline in living conditions.
“We are pleading to the relevant authorities and stakeholders in Lagos State, particularly the LSDPC, to initiate a comprehensive renovation plan to address the structural issues, sanitation concerns, and infrastructure deficiencies.” She/he remarked.
