Al-Qalam School’s Director Bags Master’s Degree in UK University, Receives Accolades

The Director of Academics, Al-Qalam Schools Ibadan, Hajia Rukayat Abimbola Otun has added another significant milestone as she earns a Master’s of Education in Leading, Learning, and Teaching from the University of Dundee, Scotland, in The United Kingdom. 

This accomplishment marks a new chapter in her ongoing commitment to enhancing educational experiences and outcomes for the students of Al-Qalam Schools Ibadan and to continuously contributing positively to the betterment of the school's host communities.

With two decades of teaching experience, Rukayat enrolled in the program eighteen (18) months ago with a vision to deepen her expertise in educational leadership and instructional strategies. 

The rigorous curriculum covered a range of subjects, including: Reflection upon practice, Innovation in Education, Organisational Leadership, Curriculum Development, Instructional Technology, and Educational Psychology, providing her with advanced skills to support her students and colleagues.

Extolling the celebrant’s virtues, The Management of Al-Qalam Schools Ibadan appraised Rukayat’s achievements describing her as an exemplary figure in the education sector.

“Rukayat exemplifies the qualities of a transformative leader in education. Her passion, dedication, and innovative mindset are exactly what our schools need to navigate the challenges of modern education.” The school remarked.

In a separate remark, Spouse to the celebrant, Alh. Ishaq Ajibola Otun noted that his wife's zeal for knowledge is an encouraging and impressive one. 

Alh. Otun added that her efforts set standard to others to emulate as she became a professional Teacher after she graduated over two decades ago in Business Administration, being her background.

Alh. Otun stressed that, Hajia Rukayat started her teaching journey after completed Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration by pursuing National Certificate in Education (NCE) at Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo. Thereafter to Lead City University for Degree in Education and now to Masters level.

Colleagues and students who couldn’t contain their joy extols her impactful virtues. Principal Idris Afolabi noted that the celebrant will brings forth renewed energy for the development of the school.

Throughout her studies, Rukayat balanced her leadership responsibilities at Al-Qalam Schools with her coursework, demonstrating exceptional dedication and time management. Her capstone project focused on Cultural factors influencing the decision of education career in Nigeria, which has already begun to be implemented in her school with promising outcomes.

The Master’s program in Leading, Learning, and Teaching at the University of Dundee is known for its comprehensive approach, blending theoretical foundations with practical application. Graduates are equipped to take on leadership roles in education, advocating for innovative practices and policies.
