Newlywed Attacks Husband, Chops Off Manhood In Kaduna

A newlywed wife who can be identified as Habiba Ibrahim has allegedly chopped off the manhood of her 40-year-old husband, Salisu Idris, while he was sleeping. She has been arrested by police.

Idris, who is said to be a commercial motorbike rider and inhabitant of Kudan in Kaduna State, disclosed that the incident occurred on May 26 after he returned from early morning prayers.

He narrated that he was lying on his bed trying to get some sleep when his wife sprang on him with a sharp knife and nearly severed his manhood, but he was rescued by neighbours when they heard him scream.

Idris stated that they married approximately four months ago and that he couldn't comprehend the rationale for her actions because they loved each other and there was no prior misunderstanding before the attack.

Idris was transported to a hospital in Kudan before being transferred to General Hospital Makarfi. He was then brought to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, where physicians battled to save his life.

“At the moment, I am more concerned about my condition. I am afraid of remarrying because of this incident,” he said.

Idris' mother, Rabi Salisu, who watches after him on the hospital bed, stated that even though they did not live in the same compound, he had never complained to her about his wife.

"Her parents are worried and are willing to settle his medical bills," she said.

 Attempts to speak with doctors about Idris's condition were unsuccessful.

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, could not be reached for comment on the event as well. 

Meanwhile, a woman, Mutiat Mukhtar, has filed for a divorce from her husband and custody of their three children over allegations of her husband not having sex with her.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that Mutiat also demanded maintenance allowance for them before an Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State. She told the court that her husband complains and nags a lot.

“He stopped performing his responsibilities as a husband to me. We no longer have sex. We argue as normal couples do, but we always settle our differences.

“He married another wife and stopped sleeping with me after we moved to our present house. I am tired of his nagging and waiting every night for him to visit me in my room,” she said.

The respondent, Kolawole Mukhtar, who broke down in tears, told the court that his wife does not help the children with their school homework and feels too big to visit his sister who lives close to them.

“She has moved to her parents’ house five times since I got married to my second wife and I am tired of pleading with her not to go,” he said.
