Al-Qalam Schools, Ibadan has on Sunday, 4th of August marked a significant milestone with its 15th End-of-Session Get-Together, Graduation and Prize & Award Giving Ceremony.
The event themed “The Golden Advice” and held at the Banquad Events Place celebrated the accomplishments of the Class of 2024, comprising 32 graduates across the primary, junior, and senior secondary levels.
The ceremony highlighted the school's enduring commitment to nurturing future leaders grounded in strong moral values and academic excellence.

The event was graced by many distinguished personalities, including Alhaji Teslim Omisore, Mr. Ibrahim Semseliu Adewale, Mr. Sulyman Isiaka Ayankunle, Mr. Ibrahim Raheem, Finance Operations Manager at Foodco Nigeria Limited, and Alhaji (Imam) Abdulganiy Otun, the Amir of the Ologuneru Muslim Community and a missioner at Anwar-ul-Islam Society of Nigeria, Ibadan. Their presence underscored the community’s strong support for the school’s educational mission and its vital role in shaping tomorrow's leaders.
A central feature of the event was the main lecture titled Maximizing The Youthful Age: A Message to the World, delivered by Dr. Abdush-Shakoor Olanrewaju Alatise.
His insightful discourse emphasized the importance of making the most of one's youthful years, imparting valuable lessons to the learners and the audience on the significance of personal growth, responsibility, and the pursuit of excellence.
In her welcome address, presented by Mr. AbdulMumin Ajala, Hajia Rukayat Abimbola Otun, the Director of Academics, reflected on the school’s achievements over the past academic year and highlighted recent progress, including gaining of additional government approval, advancements in its expansion project, and securing 2nd place in the Oyo State Public Speaking Competition organized by the Nigerian Institute of Environmental Engineers (NIEE).
She also mentioned the school’s walimat-ul-Quran ceremony and its 4th Biennial Inter-House Sports Competition, all of which underscore the institution’s dedication to providing a holistic education. She remarked, "Alhamdulillah (all thanks to ALLAH) for all the successes recorded so far and for more ahead, in shaa ALLAH."
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Alhaja Khadijat Otun Award of Excellence to Mr. Davis, who was recognized as the Outstanding College Teacher of the Year 2024. Upon receiving the award, Mr. Davis remarked, "A big heartfelt gratitude to the management for this prestigious recognition. I am inspired to continue striving for excellence and to contribute positively to our students’ lives and our school's mission." This award reflects the school’s commitment to rewarding excellence among its faculty, further enhancing the quality of education provided.
Additionally, three teaching staff members received the Five-Year Long Service Award in recognition of their dedication and commitment to the school. The honorees included Mrs. Nurudeen Balkis, Mr. Shakrulah Tohirat, and Miss Olawale Barakat. Their contributions over the years have been instrumental in upholding the school’s standards of academic excellence and moral integrity.
Alhaji Ishaq Ajibola Otun, the Director of Finance & HR, reiterated the school’s unwavering commitment to blending academic excellence with moral integrity rooted in Islamic principles. "In accordance with our Mission Statement, we place a high value on rewarding excellence in these areas," he affirmed.
Mr. Ibrahim AbdRaheem (FCA), a seasoned accountant with a passion for technology, also addressed the gathering. He spoke about the Al-Qalam App, which has been in use since 2020, emphasizing its role in helping parents stay connected with their children’s academic progress and school activities, thereby enhancing the overall educational experience.
A standout moment of the ceremony was the inspiring oratory presentation by the Head Boy, AbdulRahaman Oyebamiji. His eloquent speech, marked by confidence and leadership, captured the audience’s attention and exemplified the qualities that Al-Qalam Schools aims to instill in its learners.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards to outstanding learners in academics, morals, and character. The Director of Academics expressed profound gratitude to parents, teachers, and community members for their steadfast support over the past 18 years. She urged the graduates to carry forward the values they have learned and to embrace their roles as ALLAH's Vicegerents on earth as they embark on the next phase of their lives.
With words of encouragement and wisdom from school officials and dignitaries, the graduates were sent forth, equipped with confidence, a sense of purpose, and a passion for learning, ready to make a meaningful impact on the world.
