Ibadan Poly Presents 35 Courses for Reaccreditation, 6 Others to NBTE



Management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has presented 35 Academic programmes to the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE for re-accreditation.


The “citadel of learning” also presented three courses for verification and another three for resource inspection during the accreditation exercise


The exercise according to a released signed and made available to newsmen by the institutions Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole, drew senior officials of NBTE from Kaduna led by Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar and resource persons from Polytechnics and other professional institutions from across the country.


 Welcoming the team, the Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Dr. Taiwo Abideen LASISI noted that the exercise which holds every five years for each programme was to ensure quality control of academic programmes and also assist the institution in keeping in tune with current development across the world on such programmes.


 The Acting Rector, Dr. Lasisi commended the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for the financial and moral support given to the institution on the accreditation of the 41 programmes. 


 He said on issue of Accreditation, salary and all other pressing issues concerning the institution have always been given prompt attention by the State Governor.


During the exit exercise, the overall team leader, Dr. Fatima kabir Umar commended The Polytechnic, Ibadan Management for the adequate preparations made for the exercise.


She noted that the few areas requiring improvement should be given attention by the Management.


She further appreciated the red carpet reception given to the 146 resource persons that traveled down to The Polytechnic, Ibadan for the three day exercise which ended with their departure on Thursday(06/03/2025).


Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the NBTE,  Prof. Idris Bugaje had disclosed that  future accreditation exercises will likely be digital and urged Rectors of all Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology to gird their loins for the digital exercise.


  The Executive Secretary who was represented by the South-West Zonal Director of NBTE, Mr Ayo Aroge advised the polytechnics and colleges of technology to acquire all the equipment and technical facilities needed for digital accreditation.


The programmes presented for re-accreditation are HND Computer Engineering Technology, ND Electrical Engineering Technology,HND Electrical Engineering Technology (Electronics/Telecom), HND Mechatronics Engineering Technology,ND Mechanical Engineering and ND Civil Engineering.


Other programmes presented for  re-accreditation are HND Accountancy, HND Procurement and Supply Chain Management, ND Marketing, ND Business Administration and Management, ND Insurance, ND Urban & Regional Planning , HND Architectural Technology and HND Quantity Surveying.


 Also presented are ND Mass Communication, ND Art & Industrial Design, ND Computer Science, HND Statistics, ND Geological Technology and HND Geological Technology .


The three programmes presented for resource inspection include  ND Crime Management, HND Fashion Design & Clothing Technology and HND Science Laboratory Technology (Environmental Biology) while three other programmes for Verification are ND Chemical Engineering, ND Transportation Planning & Management as well as Food Technology.
