Ibadan Poly Mourns First Rector, Olunloyo’s Death, Describes Him an ‘Academic Colossus’

The Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, Management, Staff and Students join other distinguished Nigerians in mourning the death of the first  principal(later changed to Rector) of the institution, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo who died over the weekend.


A statement from the institution signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr Joseph Adewumi Ogunjimi and made available to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer, Alh. Soladoye Adewole, described the death of the former principal who was also a former Governor of the Old Oyo State, comprising the present Oyo and Osun States as a huge loss to the nation.


The statement further noted that Dr. Olunloyo, a world aclaimed mathematician and engineer, made a positive impact within the short time as principal of the school.


As principal, he opened the link road between the south and north of the institution using the students and the staff of the engineering department.


The Polytechnic, Ibadan, join other Nigerians in praying for the repose of the soul of Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, an academic colossus and technocrat, the statement added.
