Community, Family, Friends Shower Encomium on Hamzat, Oyo pilgrim Who Died in Saudi Arabia

 Family, friends and Owala Community in Ologuneru area of Ibadan, on Saturday showered encomium on late Alhaji Sulaimon Hamzat, an Oyo State 2025 Hajj pilgrim who died in Saudi Arabia.

 

It would be recalls that Hamzat, who was the Aare Musulumi of Owala Muslim Community,died in Saudi Arabia on May 17.


The family, Owala community, friends and other individuals gathered on Saturday in Ibadan for the 8-Day fidau prayer for the deceased and the family he left behind.


NAN reports that a whole Quran and other supplications were recited to seek God’s forgiveness for the deceased and the family left behind.

 

In his sermon,Alhaji AbdulHakeem Afuye, Chief Imam of Bodija Estate and Environs Muslim Community, reminded Nigerians that death is inevitable for all and sundry and they should always be prepared for it.


Afuye said that it was incumbent on all to do good at all times because no one was certain of the time and date death would come for them to answer for their deeds while on earth.


He urged Nigerians to fear God and shun forbidden acts in order to receive the mercy of God and be admitted into paradise.


 

Also speaking, Sheilkh AbdulAzeez Alokolodo, called on Muslims not to be greedy and assist the less- privileged,  describing the deceased as cheer giver that always help the needy.

 

Alokolodo urged Muslims to teach their children in the way of God and as well strive to impact positively in the society in order to be remembered for good.


Speaking on behalf of Owala Muslim Community, a community member, Alhaji Isiaka Lawal described the deceased as generous and someone who was always ready to make positive impact in the community.


Lawal said the deceased was a person who doesn’t descriminate irrespective of religion or ethnicity before assisting any individual.


“He associate well with members of his family, highly intelligent and one who doesn’t value anything in this world,” he said.

 

Speaking on behalf of committee of friends, Mrs Kehinde Akeredolu, former Principal Community High School,Ido, described the deceased as a beacon of hope and pillar of support for many.

 


Kehinde said that Hamzat’s generosity knew no bound and had passion for the disabled people,nothing that his memory wouid forever be cherished.


In his remarks, one of the deceased childhood friends, Mr Daud Adediran, said Hamzat’s death came as a shock to them, describing him as God fearing and one always ready to ensure people succeed through him.

 


Speaking on behalf of the family, one of the deceased’s daughter, Aminat Hamzat appreciated everyone for their support, prayers and words of encouragement since the death of their father.


She, however, solicited for donation towards the completion of Owala Community Mosque which was so dire in the mind of her father before his demise.
