The Federal Government has revealed plans to put up for sale a collection of 753 properties confiscated from former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele and those who are eligible for purchase.
Ministry of Housing spokesperson, Badamasi Haiba, disclosed that the sale would be aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on improving access to housing.
Haiba explained that the properties, part of an estate still being developed, would be made available specifically to Nigerians within the low and middle-income brackets.
In a discussion with Punch, Haiba emphasized the government’s commitment to making the houses accessible to average citizens, saying, “Next would be to profile the houses and decide how they will be sold to Nigerians."
He added, “However, the intention of the minister has always been homeownership for all categories of Nigerians, including low and middle-income earners – so we should expect to see such intentions play out here, all-inclusive.”
Haiba also assured prospective buyers that a flexible payment arrangement will be introduced to ensure affordability for those who genuinely need shelter.
