The Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan , Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, has felicitated with the staff and students of the Institution on the opportunity of witnessing another eid-el- kabir festival, generally referred to as: Ileya festival.
Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, in a statement personally signed by him, and made available to newsmen by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Alh. Soladoye Adewole noted that the festival is a significant part of the Islamic faith, which reinvigorates the belief and trust of the practitioners in Allah as a Merciful God.
He added that the tenets and essence of the festival, which is absolutely obedience of Allah should not be lost in the celebrations.
He urged the faithfuls, particularly the students, to celebrate the festival responsibly and avoid things forbidden by Allah in their activities, even after the sallah celebrations adding that youthful exuberance should not overshadowed their faith in Allah.
He also used the opportunity to appreciate the staff and students for the cooperation he and his management have been enjoying since their assumption of office.
The acting Rector also gave kudos to the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, for the opportunity given to him and his colleagues to serve the institution.
Dr Lasisi further noted that the Governor has always been there for the institution on all issues, both financially and morally, paying salaries of staff on the 25th of every month and releasing funds to procure equipment and facilities for the accreditation of academic programmes run by the institution.
