Iran Retaliates, Fires Missiles at U.S. Military Base in Qatar

Iran has launched missile strikes on a U.S. military base in Qatar in what it described as a response to recent American airstrikes on its nuclear facilities. 

The attack took place on Monday, June 23, 2025, targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, which houses U.S. and coalition troops.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the strike, calling it a “mighty and successful response” to what it termed U.S. aggression. 

Several missiles were reportedly fired toward the base, but Qatari defence systems intercepted most of them before impact. So far, there are no confirmed reports of casualties.

The U.S. had earlier launched airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow over the weekend. 

Those strikes were aimed at disabling Iran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons, according to Washington.

Qatar’s government condemned the Iranian strike, calling it a violation of its airspace and sovereignty. 

The country temporarily closed its airspace and urged citizens to remain calm. The U.S. Embassy in Qatar also advised all Americans to shelter in place until further notice.

The situation has raised concerns among international observers, with fears of further escalation between Iran and the United States. 

Several world leaders, including those from Russia, France, and China, have called for restraint and dialogue.
