There are strong indications of internal political shake-ups in the Senate as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Kogi Central, has been removed from her role as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
The decision was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, marking the second time Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has lost a leadership position within the upper chamber.
In February, she was previously removed as Chair of the Local Content Committee before being reassigned to head the Diaspora and NGOs Committee.
With this latest development, Akpoti-Uduaghan no longer holds any committee leadership role in the Senate.
She has now been replaced by Senator Aniekan Bassey, who represents Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District.
Details later.
