The lawmaker representing Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, has revealed that internal crises and political inconsistency were the reasons for his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ajilesoro, who announced his switch on the floor of the House of Representatives on Thursday, July 24, 2025, explained his decision in a statement made available on Sunday.
He pointed at the ongoing internal strife within the PDP, as well as shifting alliances that, according to him, have caused confusion among party faithful in Osun State.
“The PDP leadership in Osun had made overtures toward aligning with the progressives, but internal narratives shifted along the way.
“Consistency is the true foundation of trust. Either keep your promises or do not make them,” he said.
The lawmaker expressed dissatisfaction with what he described as the party’s contradictory approach engaging with the opposition behind the scenes while maintaining a different posture in public.
“As someone who believes in political loyalty and ideological alignment, I find it untenable to remain in a party that covertly supports the opposition while presenting a contradictory public stance,” the statement said.
Ajilesoro declared his commitment to the APC and its leadership, saying his loyalty now lies with President Bola Tinubu and the ruling party as they prepare for future electoral contests.
“Loyalty to one’s party and its leadership is non-negotiable in my political ideology. I have, therefore, chosen to align fully with the progressive camp and support the re-election of President Tinubu and all the APC candidates across the board,” he added.
