Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle has emerged as the winner of the Saturday, 16th of August bye election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
Oyekunle, who defeated his close contender, and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Adewale Olatunji Murphy and other candidates polled the total of 18,404 votes while APC’s Murphy polled 8,312 votes.
Other candidates in the bye-election with the total of 217, 980 registered voters, held in 12 wards and 512 polling units, are Dexter Femi Akin-Alamu (African Democratic Congress, ADC), Olabisi Olajumoke Odususi (All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA), Hammed Badmus (Zenith Labour Party, ZLP) and Islamiyat Oluwatoyin Abdulkadir (Social Democratic Party, SDP).
The bye-election is imperative following the demise of late Honourable Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi, popularly known as Jagaban, who represented the constituency in the House of Representatives till his passing on July 10, 2024, after a brief illness.
