The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has called off its ongoing warning strike, just four days after it began.
The development was confirmed to our correspondent on Saturday by the Assistant Secretary-General of NANNM, Chidi Aligwe.
Recall that the strike, which commenced on Wednesday, was initially planned to last seven days.
It was launched to draw attention to series of demands by the union, including a review of shift allowances, upward adjustment of uniform allowances, a distinct salary structure for nurses and increase in core duty allowances.
Other issues raised by the union included the urgent recruitment of more nurses and the creation of a dedicated nursing department within the Federal Ministry of Health.
