Prominent Nigerian music video director, ThankGod TG Omori, fondly known as "Boy Director," has voiced deep concern over the country’s minimum wage, describing it as insufficient for everyday survival.
The creative director made his frustration known in a late-night post on X, reflecting on the harsh realities faced by ordinary Nigerians.
"Dialysis costs over 100,000 naira per session, and sometimes you need three sessions a week. Meanwhile, the minimum wage is just 70,000 naira. Knowing this brought me to tears in the hospital," he wrote.
The "Boy Director," known for his work with top Nigerian artists, used the platform to expose the challenges faced by the average Nigerian, calling attention to the urgent need for economic reforms that prioritise citizens’ welfare.
However, his statement has since sparked conversations across social media, with many users empathising with his frustration and echoing his call for better living standards.
In what happens to be a swift response, the Presidency through the Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun reacted to concerns raised by the popular music video director via his X page.
He stated that under the current administration, dialysis sessions at Federal Medical Centres across all six geopolitical zones cost 12,000 naira per session. "Please verify," Olusegun added, urging Nigerians to confirm the official rates.
