Tinubu Congratulates Winners of Bye-Elections, Lauds INEC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the winners of the by-elections held on Saturday, August 16, across 16 constituencies in 12 states of the federation.


The President, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on X and sighted by AFRIPOST, he commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as largely hitch-free and peaceful exercise.


Tinubu also congratulated the new APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, describing the victories as a significant first achievement under his leadership. 


He further applauded APC governors and party leaders for their role in the successes recorded.


“Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has shown leadership capacity and demonstrated what is achievable when popular candidates are fielded and with unity of purpose among party leaders,” the President remarked.


Addressing party supporters, Tinubu expressed appreciation for their trust in the ruling party. 


“To all APC faithful and the electorate, thank you for the confidence reposed in our party. Be assured that our Renewed Hope slogan is not a mere slogan. Our destination is a better, more secure and prosperous Nigeria. We shall take you there, by the Grace of God,” he said.


The President also extended commendation to other political parties and candidates who participated in the polls.
