A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Lagos State, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, widely known as “Raye,” has accused the scheme of deliberately withholding her discharge certificate in retaliation for her criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Recall that Uguamaye first drew public attention earlier in the year after a TikTok video in which she openly criticised the federal government and described Lagos as a “smelling state” went viral.
In a fresh video posted on Instagram on Saturday, she alleged that her Local Government Inspector (LGI) refused to clear her for the month of April, despite her presence at the venue on the scheduled day.
According to her, she was repeatedly told to “go to the back” during the clearance exercise until her file was seized.
She claimed the official eventually refused to attend to her and ordered her to leave the premises.
Uguamaye said she was later informed that she would not receive her NYSC discharge certificate because she allegedly missed April clearance, an accusation she firmly denied.
“I honestly regret serving in Lagos State. It feels like my time was completely wasted,” she wrote on social media, adding that she has decided to let the matter rest.
Meanwhile, the NYSC is yet to officially respond to the allegations.
